TWTR | 60% | 71.78(Average) | 2/17/2021 | 71 | 2/18/2021: I had preset order with 0.2% trail TD messed up the order so finally it's settled. However it's still 14 cents lower than it supposed to be filled.
CGC | 20% | 16.32 | 5/18/2020 | 16.33 | 5/19/2020: TD Ameritrade Server Down at 8:17 AM so I could not sell at 16.62. I had screen copy of the order but they did not honor it. Error message was blocking my order price and that was their reason. There was bid at 16.56 and ask at 16.69.
Thank you so much again for the good insights. I had another question. Yesterday you had SQ set for about a 9% increase. I noticed you sold your 20% stake, with less than 1 percent increase during pre-market hours.
I had a question on the motivations behind that?
Was it because,
(1) your philosophy is taking short gains? (2) you noticed a shift in the charts? (3) there was a better safer opportunity available?
1. I intend to take profit on any given opportunity whether it's big or small. I am not greedy and I don't want to be. 2. At 8:30 am PPI and 9 am Powell. Volatility was expected for sure and I did not want to risk my gain at that time. If I was down, then maybe I would've hold longer until the opening or at least until after PPI announcement. 3. I took the quick loss on Uber and wanted to make sure SQ offset Uber's loss at least. 4. I had 4 positions. With potential volatility was expected, I wanted to focus on one thing. My main focus was GBTC.
These are the reasons that I made small but not that small profit from SQ this morning. Also.... My goal is to make 1% net profit a week so that I can make 67% a year. If I make 1% on any given day, I should be happy.^^
CGC: I was not going to sell in the premarket but I changed my mind as soon as I saw bad PPI result. Fortunately, I still had a chance to make a profit so I did.
GBTC: I monitored BTC price and I was confident that GBTC should be fine. But I set the stop at 11.13 area as the premium went above 25%. I don't like it when the premium is higher than 25%.
I see thank you for the reply. I absolutely recognize you as an expert in the area. Are there any specific topics to study that you recommend for a young beginner trader, so that I too could one day make plans and create strategies on my own?
I always tell.... 1. Set your goal first before anything: Make a million in 1 year, 5 year or 10 year... Or buy house in 2 years. Whatever might be... 2. Calculate your annual return to make your goal. Be realistic. I would start with 10% as it's almost given...if you invest in SPY, Vangaurd fund, etc. If you wan to make more than 20% like Buffett, put your money into BRK would be a safer bet. If you need to make more than 30% which is my minimum goal, not sure what could be the right advise for you but tell you to follow this system. 3. The only book I read about stock market was "The Stock Market". First edition came out late 80's or early 90's.
But you can google anything these days...so^^ Read Wall Street Journal. Watch CNBC.
But often times, too much information is worse than no info. So I would recommend to spend time to learn about valuation. Pick 1 company you like. Try to calculate the valuation on your own in your version with your insight. Compare your valuation against current market cap. Your valuation is lower than current market cap? Move away. Higher? Buy in.
Have fun. Most importantly... Try to be rationale...😎
